Окончил Военный инженерно-космический институт им. А.Ф.Можайского в г. Санкт-Петербург (Россия), магистратуру по эпидемиологии Школы общественного здравоохранения Университета штата Нью-Йорк в Олбани (США). Имеет опыт работы в казахстанских и международных организациях.

Работал в Центре изучения общественного мнения (ЦИОМ), в офисе Американских центров по профилактике заболеваний (CDC) в Центральной Азии, в СПИД фонде «Восток-Запад», в Академии профилактической медицины, в Центре изучения глобального здоровья по Центральной Азии Колумбийского университета, в НИИ кардиологии и внутренних болезней.

В сферу интересов входит проведение медико-социальных и эпидемиологических исследований, оценка программ и статистическая обработка данных. Имеет 9 публикаций в рецензируемых изданиях. Активно привлекается к работе в качестве консультанта. В частности, по заказу Международного банка реконструкции и развития участвовал в промежуточной оценке Программы развития здравоохранения «Саламатты Казахстан».

С сентября 2015 года является заведующим кафедрой биостатистики и основ научного исследования КазНМУ имени С.Д. Асфендиярова.

С декабря 2017 года назначен Проректором по исследовательской деятельности  КазНМУ имени С.Д. Асфендиярова.

Atchabarov Bahia Atchabarovich


Atchabarov Bahia Atchabarovich was born on September 1, 1919 in the Karakuys area, in the aul No. 1 of the Berkkara volost of the Karkaralinsky district of the Semipalatinsk province (now the Karaganda region of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

  • In 1942 he graduated from the Almaty State Medical Institute.
  • In 1942-1946 he served in the Soviet army (senior doctor – head of the sanitary service of the tank and infantry regiments). In 1946-1950 – graduate student of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR,
  • in 1950-1951. – junior researcher, senior researcher, head of department, deputy director of the Institute of Regional Pathology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR,
  • From 1952 to 1984 – director of this institute.
  • 1984-1996 – scientific consultant
  • 1996 – Honorary Director of the Research Institute of Hygiene and Occupational Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, then – Honorary Director of the Scientific Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

B.A. Atchabarov is an honored doctor of the Kazakh SSR and a doctor of medical sciences (1968), a professor (1969), a correspondent of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2004) and a laureate of the KI Satpayev prize.

The career path of one of the oldest graduates of the Almaty Medical Institute B. Atchabarov began as the head of the sanitary service of tank and infantry regiments in the Soviet army in 1942.

Graduated from graduate school in 1950; continued his career as a junior researcher at the Research Institute of Regional Pathology and in 1952 he was appointed director of the Institute at the age of 32, permanently heading it. Under the leadership of Bahia Atchabarovich, such scientific directions as:

  • Occupational pathology in the production of non-ferrous metals, phosphorus and mineral fertilizers and oil production;
  • Occupational, nutritional, social and radiation hygiene;
  • Health organizations;
  • Pathophysiology of the nervous system;
  • Epidemiology;
  • Clinic of Q fever, leptospirosis, brucellosis, tuberculosis and endemic goiter;
  • Allergology;
  • Industrial toxicology.

Physiology and pathophysiology of cerebrospinal fluid dynamics and intracranial pressure, anatomical and physiological mechanisms of their occurrence and regulation are attributed to fundamental scientific research. The pathogenesis of the general toxic action of chemicals in the body of animals, the target of which is oxidative phosphorylation, the so-called “Golden energy mechanism of life” in mitochondria, the violation of which leads to ATP deficiency is disclosed.

He made an invaluable contribution to providing evidence of the destructive effect of radioactive waste on the health of people living in the adjacent territories to the Semipalatinsk nuclear region, where he was the first leader on that scientific expedition in 1957-1960.

Author of more than 220 scientific papers, including 11 monographs. More than 40 collections of scientific papers and monographs have been published under his editorship. 15 doctoral and 34 candidate dissertations were defended under the guidance of B.A.Atchabarov.
